Abstract

The effects of different shading treatments (0,50%,75% and 90% of full light) on the growth and photosynthetic characteristics of Clerodendranthus spicatus were studied. The results indicated that compared with full light, the net photosynthetic rate and transpiration rate of leaves treated by three kinds of shading treatments decreased, leaves thickness and their palisade tissue were thinner, fresh weight and branch number reduced, sections spacing and plant height increased significantly, and increment of roots, stems and leaves declined markedly. In sum,the most suitable light condition for the growth of Clerodendranthus spicatus was full light.
