Narcissus tazetta var. chinensis is a traditional flower in China, there were three problems difficult to overcome during cultivation: monotonous species, limited propagation speed, serious accumulation virus. The development of biotechnology provided new approaches for the development of N. tazetta var. chinensis and biotechnology was becoming an important technology of genetic resources of N. tazetta var. chinensis. This paper outlined the progress in tissue culture of Chinese narcissus from the pretreatment of explants, callus and bulblets induction and differentiation, rooting and transplanting daffodils, as well as a detailed statement of genetic engineering research of N. tazetta var. chinensis. The following research direction of N. tazetta var. chinensis was proposed, too, which afforded base dates for more research of N. tazetta var. chinensis.
