Duheng, a traditional Chinese medicine record in the Bencao Tujing, was researched on its nomenclature, characteristic, geographical distribution, efficacy and illustration by consulting ancient books and modern documents, and explored the original plant. The results showed that the original plants of Duheng recorded in Bencao Tujing might include two species, Asarum forbesii Maxim and Asarum ichangense C. Y. Cheng et C. S. Yang. The results could provide new evidence for comprehensive understanding the original plants of Duheng and reference for clinical application of Duheng.
