Using method of route reconnaissance and focus of the investigation, a study on tree species, distribution and growth was carried out on Gulangyu Islet in Xiamen City. The results showed that the trees in Gulangyu Islet?(including woody lianas, according to Engler system) were a total of 75 families and 296 species?(including subspecies,variants,cultivated varieties),? in which there were primary section of 31 families, 49 species and alien introduction?60 families, 247 species. Exotic species on the Island tere spontaneously introduced by local residents for many years. There were 178 ancient trees (17 species) survived on the Island. Meanwhile, the propose about protection of trees on Gulangyu Islet was put forward.
