The young leaves of Swertia mileensis, as explants, were cultured on MS culture medium by adding different kinds and levels of hormones to study their callus induction.The results showed that the most suitable phytohormone combination to induce callus were IAA 1.0 mg/L+NAA 1.0 mg/L+KT 1.0 mg/L and NAA 4.0 mg/L+KT 2.0 mg/L+GA₃ 1.0 mg/L, with the corresponding induction rate were 96.6% and 96.0% respectively.The callus subculture in liquid by adding the two kinds of phytohormone combination could lead the proliferation rate to 257.3% and 310.2% 10 days later.
