Abstract: ABTS and DPPH methods were used to evaluate antioxidant activity of Chrysanthemum indicum aqueous extract and alcohol extract. Ethanol was used to induce damage of HepG2 cells. The survival rate of HepG2 cells after treatment with C. indicum extract was used to evaluate the liver protective effect. The results showed that the antioxidant ability of ethanol extract was better than that of water extract. Ethanol extract of C. indicum had a good scavenging effect on ABTS. The cell viability assay of alcoholic liver injury showed that the survival rates of the 5, 10, 20 μg·mL-1 treatment groups of C. indicum aqueous extract and alcohol extract were all significantly higher than that of the ethanol injury group (eth). The survival rate exhibited dose dependence. The ethanol extract of C. indicum had a more significant liver protective effect.

Key words: Chrysanthemum indicum, extract, antioxidant, alcoholic liver injury
