Abstract: The investigation and analysis were carried out on the distribution and characters of Bombax ceiba in Hainan Province,and a preliminary classification standard was formed.According to the investigation,Bombax ceiba possessed rich diversity in ornamental characters and enormous potential in selective breeding.The results of principal component analysis and cluster analysis showed that the size of flower should be set as the first standard of classification,and the flower color as the second one and the bifurcation height of stamen as the third one.
