Abstract: During a survey of wild resources of Palmae in China, Caryota maxima was first found in Longhai county, Zhangzhou city of Fujian province, and the investigation of distribution, habitat and growth situation of the wild C. maxima was carried out. The results show that, firstly, Longhai county in Zhangzhou city is the northernmost and easternmost known natural distribution of C. maxima in China; Secondly, C. maxima grows well in the natural distribution, flowering or fruiting plants and plantlets are found and indicates that the offspring could regenerate in the area; Thirdly, the area distribution of C. maxima is narrow and sporadic, and the wild resources are in endangered, so they should be protected.
