Abstract: The contents of membrane unsaturated fatty acids in longan leaves and the degree of unsaturation of the fatty acids were positively correlated with the cold-tolerance of the varieties. The contents of the unsaturated fatty acid in membrane lipid varied periodically with the change of season. The proportion of the membrane fatty acids in leaves indicated that there were genetic differences of cold tolerance among the varieties and it could be used as the index of cold-tolerance.

Key words: longan, leaf, membrane fatty acid, cold tolerance
