    2003, 32(02): 1-4.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (213KB) ( )
Treated with heated forced air at 35℃ and 38℃ for 24h and 28h, respectively, the effects of heated forced air on physiological characteristics and storage quality of mango fruits (Mangifera indica cv. Zihua)were studied. The results indicated that with the increase of temperature and duration of treatment, the MDA content in rind increased significantly and the increase of soluble solids content, the decrease of titratable acid content in fruit and yellow stain of rind were inhibited, resulting in retarding the ripening process of fruits. Under the heated forced air treatment at 38℃ for 24h and 48h, the percentage of fruits with disease spot area over 50% rose to 45.8% and 54.2% after 14 days of storage, respectively, which were significantly greater than those of the control (20.8%). The effects of heated forced air treatment at 35℃ for 24h on these indices were insignificant compared to those of the control.

ZHANG Ning, LIN Qing-hong, ZENG Xin-ping, HUANG Wei-nan
    2003, 32(02): 10-14.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (822KB) ( )
The anther of Euphorbia pulcherima originates from the primordium of stamen and it consists of epidermis (one layer), endothecium (one layer), middle layer (one layer), tapetum (one layer)and aporgenous cells. The anther has four chambers and the development of anther wall is dicotyledonous type. The microsporogenesis and male gametophyte development were observed as follows:With the mitosis of microspore mother cells, tetrad is formed, of which the cytokinesis is simultaneous type and the arrangement is tetrahedral; microspores complete the mitosis and generated double-nuclei pollen. The epidermis of anther disappears at the anther mature stage, the middle layer disappears at tetrad stage and the endothelium become columnar fibrous layer at the anther mature stage. The tapetum cells stretch radially and become double-nuclei or more at uninuclear microspore stage and some tapetum cells form trabeculae or placentoides. At double-nuclei pollens stage, the particles coming from tapetum cells go into anther chambers and the tapetum is off-type glandular tapetum. The tapetum disappears at anther mature stage. The abnormal anther development was observed simultaneously.

    YU Ze-ning
    2003, 32(02): 15-17,9.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (255KB) ( )
The contents of membrane unsaturated fatty acids in longan leaves and the degree of unsaturation of the fatty acids were positively correlated with the cold-tolerance of the varieties. The contents of the unsaturated fatty acid in membrane lipid varied periodically with the change of season. The proportion of the membrane fatty acids in leaves indicated that there were genetic differences of cold tolerance among the varieties and it could be used as the index of cold-tolerance.

    ZHOU Kai-bing, XIA Ren-xue
    2003, 32(02): 22-25.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (231KB) ( )
Through two-year field experiment, a comparison of growth and yield of Newhall navel orange on two combinations of interstock and rootstock was made. The results indicated that Newhall navel orange on Citrus sinensis interstock and C. tangerina rootstock (treatment)born fruits obviously later than that on C. unshiu interstock and Poncirus trifoliate rootstock (control). The late bearing of the treatment could be attributed to that the treatment had larger length increment and less diameter increment than the control; the crown density of the treatment was larger than that of the control and the photosynthesis of it was inhibited; the content of soluble sugar in leaf was lower and the content of starch in leaf was higher than those of the control; the combination of C. sinensis interstock and C. tangerina rootstock had lower content of N and P, higher content of Ca and higher C/N value in leaf.
