Abstract: The diameter at breast height, the height and the canopy of twenty Michelia species were measured in Zhongshan arboretum. The results showed that all the twenty Michelia species grew well in Zhongshan arboretum. There were significant differences in DBH, height and canopy among the analytic thirteen species. The local seedlings of M. champaca, M. alba, M. chapensis and M. macclurei had excellent growth performance. M. foveolata var. cinerascens and M. floribunda grew better than the three others which introduced from Hunan in 2004. M. fulgens had the best performance in the seven Michelia species which introduced from 2005 to 2009.
