Effects of Exogenous Cholesterol on Mcmbrane Lipids and Cold Resistance of Rice Seedlings
Lai Menghong, Guo Jinquan, Chen Wentao

): 8-12.
Abstract

The changes of membrane lipids and their fatty acids of rice seedlings were measured before and after low temperature stress. The results indicated that when the rice seedlings were sprayed with cholesterol, then stressed by low temperature, the reductions of LPC,PS,PG,linolenic acid (18:3) and IUFA and the additions of PA and palmitic acid (16:0) were less than those of the control both in leaves and roots. This result suggests that the sensitivity of rice seedlings to cold stress is closely related to PA and their unsaturated fatty acids component.Treating with exogenous cholesterol not only can prevent mernbrane lipids from chilling injuries but also enhance the cold re-sistance of rice seedlings.

The cosmid pAL

containing the hydrogen uptake genes of
Rhizobium leguminosarum
was transferred into
Rhizobium Japonicum
(Glycine max meer 292-C) by triparent mating system,Two transconjugants 292-C
2
and 292-C
3
were selected in
Rhizobium
mininal medium containing Ampicillin (25 mg/L) and Tetraeycline (10 mg/L).The expression of hydrogenase activities of transconjugants were studied. The transconju-gants 292-C
2
and 292-C3 showed high hydrogenase activity both in free-living and symbi-otic state whiie the recipient showed no hydrogen uptake activity in free-living state and hydrogen evolution in symbiotic state.

Effect of Fungicides and Waxing on Ripe-softening and Postharvest Diseases of “Zihua” Mango
Tang Youlin, Zhou Yuchan, Yang Qian
1996, 25(

): 17-21.
Abstract

waxing treatment with SF wax delayed turning yellow and ripe-softening of postharvest "Zihua" mango fruits, increased the lustre of peel, decreased the rate of fruit weight lose and shrinkage of peel, improved the storage quality, and increased the effect of fungicides,TBZ or Prochloraz,on anthracnose and stem end rot.In various treatments with different concentrations of SF wax,1:1 (wax:water) dilution of SF wax was more suitable for waxing of postharvest "Zihua" mango fruit.

Biomass, Leaf Area Index and Chlorophy11 Content of
Acidosasa edulis
Bamboo Shoot-stand
Chen Songhe, Zheng Qingfang

Abstract

The biomass of
Acidosasa edulis
bamboo shoot stand was as high as 30375 kg/ha.The above-ground and underground proportion of the biomass ranged from 1.2 to 1.5.The biomass of culms was twice as much as that of branches and leaves. The leaf area index (LAI) of
A.edulis
bamboo shoot-stand had a parabolic curve with the age of bamboo and was related to its diametcr, height, clear height and crown area. The chlorophyll content in leaves of A.edulis was negatively related to its age and positivelyto solar irradiance.

Effect of Streptomycini Sulfas on Asparagus Stem Blight
Hu Cuifeng, Jiang Liming, Gao Rixia
1996, 25(

Abstract

The effect of streptomycini sulfas on asparagus stem blight (
Phoma asparagi
Sacc.)was studied through spore germinative inhibition test and field control experiment. The results showed that the streptomycini sulfas was effective on inhibiting the germination of spores of the pathogenic fungi, limiting the expansion of the lesions and reducing the number of new lesions of the disease. The control efficiency of thestreptomycini sulfas on the disease was 64%,which was more effective than that of 800-fold mildothane in field. It suggests that streptomycini sulfas might be used as a biological agent for controlling asparagus stem blight.

A Preliminary Report on the Histopathologic Observations of Loquat Leaf Parch Blight Disease

Abstract

The histopathologic observations of the veins infected with loquat leaf parch blight disease were carried out by ultrathin section and electronmicroscope technique. The results revealed that there was a large number of mycelioid organisms of bodies in the phloem cells of the veins infected with the disease, but not in the healthy ones. The mycelioid organisms were 37~100×1500~? nm in sizes, but their naturel was still unknown. It was considered that the disease might be associated with the organisms.

Observations were made on blooming characteristics of wild and eco-nomic cultivation of
Anoectochilus roxburghii
during 1990~1992.The results were as follows:the blooming period was in middle September to early November. The blossom was found at midnight. The abundant fIowers occures when temperature was 22~26℃ and relative humidity 86%~95%.Flower opening at high aItitude was earlier than that at low altitude. No fertility occured in late flowering.
