Calcium at various concentrations was applied to litehee fruits at postharvest. The changes of peptinesterase, polygalacturonase and cellulase activity of fruits were determined in order to find out an optimum calcium concentration to delay the ripening and deeaying of litehee fruits.4%.calcium treatment was found to be able to retard the activity of these enzymes, delay the appearance of peaks of enzyme activity or even disappear, thus delaying the decay of fruits.

The conditions and effects of clarifying four kinds of fruit juices with immobilized pectinase were studied. The results showed that the immobilized pectinase has a distinct clarification effect on citrus, apple, pear and plum juices. Both emzyme activity and pervious efficiency to light retained up to 80% after reacting more than 20 times with immobilized pectinase in citrus juice. The optimum reaction conditions of citrus juice were as follows:juice concentration 50%,pH 3.0~3.5,reaction temperature 45~50℃,reaction time 2 h,immobilized pectinase dosage 0.05 g/ml juice, clarification time 20 h.

Black Heart of PineappleFruits Induced by Preharvest Chilling Temperature

Abstract

The black heart of pineapple fruits induced by preharvest chilling temperature was studied and discussed. The incidence of blackheart induced by chilling temperature was 60%~100% in autumn and winter. The results suggested that the effect of chilling temperature below 21℃ at preharvest was one of important factors in inducing of pineapple blackheart. In South China, there is a difference of sensibilitv to blackheart in different pineapple varieties. Therefore breeding and planting of new blackheart-resis-tant varieties of pineapple would be an important measure in control of blackheart of pineapples.

Abstract

Explants of small floral receptacles of clonal
Gerbera jamesonil
were cul-tured
in vitro
. The result showed that the size of small floral receptacles affected bud ini-tiation from the callus. The best result was found with 0.5~0.7 cm diameter of the ex-plants. The inducing rate of bud initiation decreased with increasing explants diameter. The best induction was found on MS medium containing various hormones added with 6-BA 10 mg/L. Rooting on (1)/(2) MS medium added with IBA 0.3 mg/L was the most effec-tive.

719 woody species which belong to 272 genera and 102 families are re-ported in this paper. These species are divided into 13 distribution types which take up 86.7% of Chinese distribution types. This flora is characterized by its complicated com-ponents,numerous species, old origin and several rare and endangered species, and close-ly relative to other floras in the world, especially to the flora of North America.

The major characteristics of Quanzhou flora are rich in plant species, more ancient and relict plants, and monotypic genera and families, some of which are en-demic genera in China. The floristic composition is complex. The genera and families in tropical and subtropical zone are dominant. The resources plants should be protected and reasonably exploited and utilized.

fixation due to dual nodulation, tolerance of flooding, alkali and acid. They are also unaffected to some extend by mineral N. The use of
Sesbania rostrata

Aeschynomene afraspera
as green manure crops in low-land rice farming systems is a viable alternative to mineral N fertilizer application.

Abstract

The research advances on citrus germplasm
in vitro
over the last ten years are outlined, including materials used and preservation methods. It indicates that the method of citrus germplasm preservation
in vitro
may avoid the shortcomings of
in vivo
preservation,but may not substitute
in vivo
preservation. Further research are need-ed on the method.
