    Floristic Elements of Sediment Spore-pollen between Western and Eastern Sample Plots beside Main Peak of Ailao Mountain in Yunnan

    As the natural boundary between the eastern Yunnan plateau and the southwestern Yunnan in Hengduan Mountains, the large-scale prominent terrain leads to obvious regional difference of climate and vegetation on both sides of Ailao Mountain. In this article, a comparative analysis is made on plant species floristic elements of sediment spore-pollen in two sample plots beside the main peak respectively. The results show that there is a remarkable difference on sediment spore-pollens between these two sample spots while there is no on the topsoil spore-pollens. The tropical genera elements of sediment spore-pollens is higher in the western sample plot (6.8%) than one in eastern part (4.7%) because the western plot is controlled by India summer monsoon at all times. And the north temperate elements of sediment spore-pollens is lower in the western sample plot (13.4%) than one in eastern part (26.4%) because the eastern plot is influenced evidently sometimes by East Asia winter monsoon. In a word, Ailao Mountain is one of important boundaries between India summer monsoon and East Asia winter monsoon.

    Effects of Soil Bulk Density on Water Use Efficiency of Maize under Drying and Wetting Condition

    The effects of soil bulk density (SBD) on both leaf water use efficiency (WUEl) and plant water use efficiency (WUEp) of maize (Zea mays L.) under different water regimes were studied. Split-root experiments were conducted under both low (-0.86 MPa) and high (-0.17 MPa) soil matrix potential conditions. Four types of soil treatments were imposed: low density (both compartments packed to 1.20 g/cm3), middle density (both compartments packed to 1.33 g/cm3), high density (both compartments packed to 1.45 g/cm3), and mix density (one compartment packed to 1.20, the other to 1.45 g/cm3). The results showed that under drought condition (-0.86 MPa), WUEl increased and WUEp decreased with increasing SBD, whereas under wetting condition (-0.17 MPa), both WUEl and WUEp increase with increasing SBD. The correlation analysis showed that WUEl had positive correlations with soil mechanical resistance (Rs) under both drought and wetting condition. There were positive correlations between WUEp and Rs under wetting condition, but significant negative correlation under drought stress. Under both drought and wetting condition, the WUEl and WUEp of plant grown in mixed density soil maintain higher level. It is suggested that high SBD and low matrix potential influence water use efficiency (WUE) independently, but the effects of low matrix potential is more profound, and there is also an interactive effect of them upon WUE. Meanwhile the spatial change of SBD is beneficial for WUE improvement.

    Flue-cued tobacco K326 was used to investigate the dynamics of seed germination and several physiological and biochemical indexes under different NaCl stress in this study. The results showed that low concentration of NaCl promoted seedling growth of K326,and the growth of seedlings were inhibited significantly under high NaCl stress. With the concentration of NaCl increasing, germination vigor, germination index, simple vigor index, morphological index, K+ content and plant fresh/dry weight all presented a significant declining trend,and Na+ content increased. With the increase of NaCl concentration and the prolonging time of NaCl stress, the contents of MDA, Pro and soluble sugar, and electrolyte leakage of plasma membrane in leaves increased, whereas the contents of soluble protein and chlorophyll,and activity of roots decreased.

    Influences of PPO Inhibitors on Browning in Phalaenopsis Explants

    The effects of Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity inhibitors supplemented to reaction buffer at different concentrations showed that ascorbate acid and Cys complete inhibited PPO activity at 0.5 mmol/L. Adding PPO activity inhibitors to media at different concentrations, the results showed that 300 mg/L citric acid and 100-200mg/L NaHSO3 could reduce the browning of Phalaenopsis explants. Soaking explants with PPO activity inhibitors, it showed that 50 mg/L ascorbate acid gave the best result for browning inhibition and PPO activity was lower than that of control before explants browning happened.

    Stems of tissue culture seedlings of Ormosia henryi were cultured under low temperature stress. The results showed that the optimal temperature for induction of chilling tolerance callus was 5℃. The differentiation frequency of chilling tolerance callus cultured under 5℃ was 70.0% on MS solid medium supplemented with 6-BA 2.0 mg/L and NAA 0.25 mg/L, and the injury rate of regenerated plants from chilling tolerant callus was much lower than that of control group.

    Study on Factory Production Technology of Dioscorea bulbifera Virus-free Plantlets

    In this paper, effects of different factors on factory production technology were studied by using Dioscorea bulbifera virus-free plantlets as test material. The results showed that during factory production of Dioscorea bulbifera virus-free plantlets, white sugar could substitute sucrose, jam bottle could replace triangle tapered flask, being cultured in liquid media was superior to being cultured in solid media, but tap water could not supersede distilled water. In the transplanting process of Dioscorea bulbifera virus-free plantlets, the pore closure rate reached the highest on 5th day, from then on the pores resumed closure function gradually. There were significant differences in fresh weight and diameter of tuber between virus-free plantlets and plantlets with virus, which indicated that the production could be increased after virus elimination.

    Influence of Reclaimed Water Irrigation on Several Physiological Indexes of Three Landscape Plants

    Reclaimed water irrigation was an important way to deal with ease the tension in water supply in cities and solve the problem of sewage pollution. A pot experiment of short term and field trials of long term were conducted to study on physiological indices, which including the contents of prolin, MDA and chlorophyll in leaves, activities of SOD, POD and permeability of cell membrance. Three species, Zoysia tenuifolia, Duranta repens ‘Dwarf Yellow’ and Ficus microcarpa ‘Golden Leaves’ were selected in the experiments. The results indicated that to the short term, the chlorophyll content in leaf of the three plants and the activity of SOD in leaf of Zoysia tenuifolia of reclaimed water irrigation were significantly higher than those of normal water irrigation, and the other physiological indices were no significant differences between reclaimed water irrigation and normal water irrigation; to the long term, the physiological indices of the three plants were no significant differences between reclaimed water irrigation and normal water irrigation.

    Based on the investigation of plant height, leaf colour, flower colour, flower fragrance, flower diameter, number of flowering branches, number of flowers per branch, length of flowering branch, resistance, flowering in Festival Spring or not, 8 cultivars of Cymbidium hybridum were evaluated by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results showed that the general characteristics of 8 cultivars were good and basically accordant with practice in production, especially 3 cultivars for C. Dorothy Stockstill ‘Forgotten Fruits’, C. Miss Korea, C. Lura Song ‘Aphrodite’ presented better in the cultivars evaluation.

    Comparison of Leaf Type and Leaf Epidermis Features from Different Populations of Syzygium grijsii in Fujian

    The diversity of leaf type and characters of leaf epidermis from 16 different populations of Syzygium grijsii (Hance) Merr. et Perry in Fujian province were investigated to study its germplasm resources diversity by observing the morphological characters of leaf and micromorphological characters of leaf epidermis. The diversity of leaf type was observed; the main characters such as leaf length, leaf width were measured; the characters of leaf epidermis from different populations of Syzygium grijsii were examined both under LM and SEM. The shape of the leaves from Minxi population is broad ellipse, and the shape of the leaves from Mindong, Minbei and Minnan populations is long ellipse. The leaf epidermis features of 16 different populations are the same on epidermal hairs, ornamentation of cuticular membrane, indexes of stomata. But the patterns of anticlinal wall of epidermal cells are sinuate, sinuolate, straight or bow in different populations. So we have a conclusion that the adjuncts of the leaf epidermis are so discrepant in different populations that the characters of the pattern of anticlilnal wall can’t be used for identification of the genera and species.

    Disinfection Effect of Different Treatments on Jatropha curcas Seed

    The statistics of decayed seeds and testing of seed germination in Jatropha curcas were conducted after sterilization with different treatments. The results indicated that there were significant differences in disinfection effect and seed germination rate of the seeds soaking with different KMnO4 concentrations for 30 min and soaking with 1% CuSO4 for 10 min, 20 min and 30 min, respectively. Among these treatments, soaking seed with 1% CuSO4 for 30 min was the best, which not only presented the best disinfection effect, but also could break the dormancy and accelerate the seed germination of Jatropha curcas. The germination of Jatropha curcas seed was inhibited after KMnO4 treatment.

    Study on Volatile Compounds in Fruit of Canarium album ‘Changying’

    The volatile compounds in the fruit of Canarium album ‘Changying’, which is Fujian Minhou's superior variety, were extracted by SPME and analyzed by Capillary GC-MS method. By Capillary Chromalography, more than 29 peaks were isolated and identified. The results showed that the main volatile components were Caryophyllene, octahydro-7-methyl-3-methylene-4- (1-methylethyl)-,Naphthalene, 1,2,3,5,6,8a-(1-methylethyl)-,Naphthalene, 1,2,3,5,6,8a-hexahydro- 4,7-dimethyl-1-(1-methylethyl)-, Copaene, α-Caryophyllene, Butylated, H-ydroxytoluene, Cyclo- hexane, 1-ethenyl-1-methyl2,4-bis(1-methylethenyl)-,α-Cubebene. Caryopsyllene content was the highest, accounted for 42.40%. Comparing with the analysis results of Canarium album ‘ Changying’ to Canarium album ‘Dongjieyuan’ and Canarium album ‘Sanleng’, we found that the main component was terpenes, but the ingredients were different. Obviously, the volatile components of Canarium album from different trains and regions were different.

    Scepteridium ternatum and Pteris semipinnata polysaccharide were extracted by four methods. These crude extracts were tested against three kinds of fish disease pathogen using the agar disc diffusion method. The results showed that polysaccharide extracts from Scepteridium ternatum and Pteris semipinnata have activities against fish disease pathogen in different levels. The minimum inhibition concentrations (MICs) of polysaccharide extracts of Scepteridium ternatum against Ameromonas punctata was 6.25 mg/ml.

    The appearance qualities and internal qualities of four pineapple cultivars produced in Hainan were investigated and the overall qualities were evaluated. The results showed that the quality of Tainong 16 was the best, and followed by Tainong 17, the quality of Shalaoyue (Taiwanxiangmi) was poor.

    In a current investigation of the island vegetation in Mindong District of Fujian Province, a newly recorded genus, Crepidiastrum Nakai, and seven newly recorded species to Fujian, Suaeda glauca (Bunge) Bunge, Hibiscus hamabo Sieb. et Zucc., Crepidiastrum lanceolatum (Houtt.) Nakai, Heteropappus arenarius Kitam., Clerodendrum kaichianum Hsu, Rhaphiolepis umbellate(Thunb.) Makino, and Phoenix hanceana Naudin were found. The voucher specimens are deposited in the Herbarium of Ningde Teachers' College (NDTC).

    According to field investigation and references, there almost 50% species of Solanaceae in Guangxi are exotic, which includes 1 variety and 21 species of 11 genera. Most of them originated from American. 73% species such as Nicotiana tabacum, Solanum tuberosum, S. melongena and Capsicum annuum are introduced and cultivated plants for economic purpose. Datura stramonium, D. mete,S. aculeatissimum, S. erianthum, S. capsicoides and S. torvum are harmful and listed in invasive alien species in China.

    Wild Fruit Tree Resources and Their Development in Jiufu Mountain, Fujian

    Based on the investigation of wild fruit tree resources, there are 85 species and 7 varieties belonging to 41 genera, 31 families in Jiufu Mountain Nature Reserve, Fujian Province. The largest family is Rosaceae, with 5 genera, 18 species and 1 variety, accounting for 20.7% of the total species. Rosaceae, Fagaceae, Moraceae and Vitaceae are the dominant families in this nature reserve, comprising 50 species, 54.3% of the total species. Rubus is the largest genus, which consists of 11 species, make up of 12.0% in the total species. Hivenia acerba, Choerospondias axillaries, Vaccinium bracteatum, Broussonetia papyrifera, Elaeagnus pungents, Gareinia mulliflira, Rosa laevigata, Melastoma dodecandrum, Akebia trifoliate, and the species of Castanopsis, Rubus and Vitaceae have great potential for exploitation. The scientific name, characters, habitat, ripening date and uses of fruit of 92 species (varieties) were described. Some suggestions for protection and exploitation were also put forward.

    The lead is a kind of severely-toxic polluting stuff to rice's growth and development, since the output and the quality of rice are both affected by the lead's content and existing form in the farmland soil. Five aspects are analyzed and summarized systematically in this paper such as the lead's existing form in soil, the absorption and enrichment rule of lead in rice, the effect of lead's pollution on the rice's growth and the physiological biochemical effect of rice under lead pollution, and rice's resistant mechanism toward lead pollution.

    Comprehensive Evaluation of Forest Landscape in Forest Park

    Forest landscape is the main part of a forest park, and is the base of ecotourism development. How to estimate the forest landscape is an important question, which related to the sustainable development of forest park. This paper shows that forest landscape including three functions: beautility, ecology and health care. This study sums up the methods of evaluation related to these functions. The comprehensive evaluation of three functions may serve as reference for the sustainable development of the forest park.
