Relationship between polyamines and ethylene evolution of cut rose flowers during senescence
    YANG Chen-wei, JIANG Yue-ming, HE Sheng-gen
    2000, 29(03): 1-5.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (168KB) ( )
Relationship between polyamines and ethylene evolution of cut flowers of rose (Rosa chinenis cv.Bramine) were investigated during vase-holding period. A slight increase of endogenous Put and a decrease of Spd, Spm and PAs were observed within 2 days while ethylene evolution peak appeared on the third day. MGBG inhibited the synthesis of Spd and Spm and increased the rate of ethylene evolution. The ethylene evolution peak was delayed and the rate of ethylene evolution slowed down when treated with AOA. Moreover, an increase of Spd and Spm of the cut flowers when treated with AOA was observed within 2 days. It is suggested that polyamines in ethylene climacteric-like cut rose flowers competed with ethylene for SAM as precursor in their biosynthetic pathways during senescence.

Studies on the microstructural feature of the pollen and fruit surface of Mosla plants grown in Fujian Province
YU Wang, LIN Wen-qun, LIU Jian-qiu, ZHANG Qing-qi
    2000, 29(03): 10-16.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (3672KB) ( )
The pollen and fruit surface of 3 species of Mosla plants grown in Fujian Province were observed with stereoscopic microscope and scanning electron microscope. The result showed that the pollen morphology of these species have some similarities while there exists significant interspecific differences in microstructures of fruit surfaces. The microstructure of the fruit surface is an important character in the study of taxonomy of Mosla plants.

    2000, 29(03): 17-20.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (148KB) ( )
Crystal hydrogel-resin was synthesized by graft copolymerization with acrylic acid and color polyacrylate. It was of over 100g (water)/g(resin) the absorption of deionizing water. The color of resin was steady and the resin appeared crystal edge. The effects of initiator, cross-linking agent and assistant on the resin property were studied.

Effects of calonyctin on growth and differentiation of Caladium bicolor callus
    CHEN De-hai, CHEN Lin-jiao, XIN Ze-yu, YANG Sheng-chang
    2000, 29(03): 21-24.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (140KB) ( )
Caladium bicolor callus was cultured on the basic MS media containing calonyctin supplemented with 0.2mg/L NAA and 0.2mg/L 2,4-D. The results showed that 0.2~2.0mg/L calonyctin promoted the growth and differentiation of Caladium bicolor callus. After culturing for 2 months, the callus differentiated into plantlets on the medium 0.2~2.0mg/L calonyctin while both control and the callus treated with high concentration of calonyctin (10.0mg/L) did not regenerated plantlets. The results suggested that calonyctin with proper growth regulators has regulatory effects on the growth and differentiation of plant callus.

Influence of low temperature and light on membrane-lipid peroxidation of Philodendron cv.Wend-imbe seedlings
    WANG Ying-qiang
    2000, 29(03): 25-28.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (147KB) ( )
Effects of low temperature and light on membrane-lipid peroxidation of Philodendro cv.Wend-imbe seedlings were studied. The differences of damage between low temperature treatments and the control were not significant. The contents of MDA and the activities of CAT and POD and membrane permeability were higher than those of the control, suggesting that the level of the membrane-lipid peroxidation increased with low temperature stress. The membrane permeability, the contents of MDA and the activities of CAT and POD were higher under darkness than that under light at 5℃. The results at 10℃ turned out contrary to that at 5℃.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (708KB) ( )
Based on the data of 143 sample trees, the single entry tree volume table and duality entry tree volume table were established by selecting volume equations (V=aDb and V=aDbHc) and optimized with the modified simplex method. It is proof that the volume table has practical value in production.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (150KB) ( )
Most of the Cacti seeds are imported from abroad and hard to get the seed source. The quantity of the seeds which can go into seedlings not only depends on the quality of the seeds but also on water, fertilizer, light, temperature, soil formulation, seeds disinfection, diseases and pest control, etc.

Litchi is one of the fruits which are the most difficult to be stored in the world. Litchi fruit browns and rots rapidly once harvested. With rapid development of litchi production, the postharvest physiology and technology of storage and transport of litchi fruit have been studied in recent years. The advances in these studies are reviewed in this paper.
