Changes of quality and fatty acids in the seed oil of Melastoma dodecandrum fruits during ripening
    SHI Dong-mei, CHEN Bing-hua, LIU Jian-qiu
    2000, 29(02): 1-4.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (241KB) ( )
The quality of Melastoma dodecandrum fruits at different ripening stages were studied. The results showed that Vitamin C and total sugar at ripe stage reached the maximum value and total acids was the minimum. The optimum harvest was at the ripe stage which had the proper sugar/acid ratio, moderate hardness, colorful appearance and excellent taste. The study on the fatty acids in the seed oil showed that unsaturated fatty acids dominated in fatty acids, particularly linolenic acid, accounting for 84% and the content of fatty acids did not change greatly.

Morphology of chalazal region on endotesta in the seeds of Magnoliaceae and those of related families
    XU Feng-xia
    2000, 29(02): 5-10.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (411KB) ( )
The seeds of Magnoliaceae, Winteraceae, Illiciaceae and Schisandra-ceae were observed. The results showed that the seeds of Magnoliaceae are of endotestal seeds with two special morphological types, i.e. the pore type and the tube type in the chalazal region and the others are of extotestal seeds. It can be deduced that these three families have loose relationships with Magnoliaceae of which species form a natural group.

Effect of laser and magnetic field on pigment content of callus of Onosma paniculatum
    HONG Li-ping, HUANG Wei-nan, WANG Man-si
    2000, 29(02): 11-14.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (267KB) ( )
Onosma Paniculatum treated with He-Ne laser and magnetic field of certain intensity was studied. The results showed that the pigment content was higher after 2~3h laser radiation and the cell growth and pigment formation could be reduced in 1.0 T magnetic field. The two kinds of physical factors had no obvious influence on Onosma paniculatum pigment composition by the chromatographic analysis with thin-layer silica gel.

    2000, 29(02): 15-18.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (258KB) ( )
A method was developed for the determination of linalool and eucalyptus oil in C. camphora var.linaloofera Fujita by capillary column chromatography using a 40m-length quartz column. Methanol was used as mobile phase with programmed column temperature. The recovery rate was over 94.2%, c.v. was below 3.21% and the method is applicable.

Comparative experiment on characters of elite trees of Castanda henryi varieties
    HUANG Ming-li
    2000, 29(02): 19-22.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (243KB) ( )
16 elite trees were selected out on the basis of investigation on Castanda henryi varieties in main producing area of C. henryi in Jian'ou, Fujian. The results of the investigation and analysis on the characters of elite trees showed that the differences between each variety are significant, suggesting that it may be further selection of good varieties.

Growth dynamics of bamboo shoot and young bamboo of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami
    GAO Rui-long, LIN Zhong-ping, WANG Jie-ling
    2000, 29(02): 27-30.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (235KB) ( )
By surveying the growth of bamboo shoots and young bamboos of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami in Fuan, the center of bamboo ecological distribution in China, and their growth characteristics were studied. The results showed that the rate of bamboo sprouts and the individual weight of bamboo varied at different growth seasons. The young bamboo from coming up out of the ground to growing up from a shoot were measured and the changes of new bamboo groves planted in the alluvial flat of river beach were compared. All these provide scientific basis for assets evaluation in bamboo groves.

Predacious response of Misumenop tricspidatus to Plutella xylostella larvae
    HUANG Jun-mei, WU Mei-xiang, YOU Min-sheng
    2000, 29(02): 31-35.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (296KB) ( )
Functional predacious response of Misumenop tricspidatus to Plutella xylostella larvae and effect of interferential factors on predacity were studied under the laboratory text. The results indicated that the type of functional response of the spiders referred as to Holling's Ⅱ and the predacious efficiency decreased as the increase of predator-prey ratio. The female spiders killed more larvae than the male ones. There was no significant difference between experimental data and theoretical data by X2-test.

Studies on the property of moulding sand binder of non-environmental pollution
    LIANG Chu-si, CHEN Jia-ling, LIN Zong-han, HUANG Ting-fang
    2000, 29(02): 36-39.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (235KB) ( )
Taking cassava as materials, the technical properties of a new type of binder were investigated and the effects of technical factors on drying tensile strength of binder were tested. The results showed that B-type binder possessed special properties of making the molding sand, suggesting that it may replace the tung oil and HZ oil used in foundry in the future.

    GU Xi-rong, SHI Da-xing
    2000, 29(02): 40-42.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (194KB) ( )
Taking the young stem sections of 5 year-old Sabinas chinensis as explants, the effect of BA regulation on plantlets and its multiplication were studied. The results showed that the plantlets grew well on 1/2MS medium containing BA at 0.5mg/L, NAA at 0.5mg/L and IBA at 0.2mg/L with the shoots differentiation at the rate of 95.0%;a combination of MS with BA at 1.0mg/L and NAA at 0.01mg/L gave the best result for multiplication of shoots.
