    2006, 35(04): 1-5.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (967KB) ( )
Based on the studies of spatial distribution of Pb, Cd, Ni and Fe in mangrove sediments of Zhangjiang estuary, some conclusions were obtained.High contents of Pb and Fe were found in the sediments, while the contents of Ni and Cd were relatively lower.Different contents were found at different locations of mangrove wetlands, forest sediments had higher Pb and Cd contents compared to sediments of mudflat. The concentrations of Pb, Cd and Fe increased across the tidal flat to the mangrove forest transition. The results indicated that the total metal concentrations decreased with the increase of sediment depth.

LUO Hua-jian, ZHENG Zhi-bo, LUO Shi, LAI Yong-chao, ZENG Yun
    2006, 35(04): 16-18.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1116KB) ( )
Hydroponic culture plants come into fashion in recent years. When the solution is exposed in the sunlight, algae will generate quickly and it is not good for the growth of plants. In the experience, active carbon, charcoal and VT-500 were added in the nutrient solution to study the inhibitory effects on algae in the plants hydroponic culture. The results showed that notable effects of the algae inhibition and stable level of pH were obtained when treated with active carbon in the solution. The effects of active carbon treatment were better than that of charcoal treatment and VT-500 treatment produced no good results for algal inactivation.

    LIU Bo-ling, LI Guo-huai, CHENG Yun-qing
    2006, 35(04): 24-27.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (938KB) ( )
The shoot-tip grafting (STG) technique was used to eliminate the bacterial-like organisms (BLOs), and survival plants were obtained by the technique.Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and direct fluorescence detection methods were regarded to detect the efficiency of STG.The result showed that the highest rate of survival plant was 75%;the BLOs were not detected by the two methods in the STG plants, while the original material all infected by BLOs.The efficiency of elimination of huanglongbing by STG was 100%;the rate of detection by PCR was 100%, but only 33.3% by direct fluorescence detection. So PCR has higher sensitivity. These young STG plants obtained by STG were virus-free young plants and STG could be used for propagating virus-free plants for citrus production.

    2006, 35(04): 28-31.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (956KB) ( )
Red-fleshed sweet pomelo was originated from the high-quality bud sport of Guanxi sweet pomelo. The fruit mature period and the color of juice vesicle were different from Guanxi sweet pomelo, but other biological characteristics were similar to Guanxi sweet pomelo. They showed incompatibility when used the methods of mixed culture or artificial pollination each other. But pollinated with other cultivars' pollen, the fruits of red-fleshed sweet pomelo and Guanxi sweet pomelo could form many developed seeds or rudimentary seeds.Their pollen morphological characteristics were similar.Amplified fragment length of ITS-PCR was accordant, and bands were single in the two cultivars. These indicated that they have close genetic relationship, and red-fleshed sweet pomelo was originated from the bud sport of Guanxi sweet pomelo.
