Effects of NAA on the activity of IAAO and rooting of Eucalyptus cuttings
HUANG Zhuo-lie, Li Ming, TAN Shao-man, LIN Shao-xiang, LONG Teng, YANG Guo-qing
    2001, 30(02): 1-5.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (176KB) ( )
Eucalyptus urophylla Blade MLA clone (MLA) is a species that is difficult to root and E. urophylla Blade U6 clone (U6) and E.ABL 12 W5 clone (W5) are two species that are easy to root. The activity of indoleacetic acid oxidase (IAAO) in MLA was higher than that in U6 and W5. After treated with naphthylacetic acid (NAA), the activities of IAAO varied and the contents of soluble protein increased regularly at different stages of rooting of Eucalyptus cuttings. The relationship between IAAO and rooting of Eucalyptus cuttings was also discussed.

    RAO Zhi-ming, LI Wen-qi, YANG Tian-long, XIN Yan-ping
    2001, 30(02): 6-10,15.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (236KB) ( )
A new technique of reusing citrus wastes to produce ethanol, hesperidin and fodder by direct pressing and microbial fermentation was developed. The products of ethanol and hesperidin were examined and reached the A.R. grade. Compared with the processing technique without fermentation, the contents of fat and protein were increased by 175.7% and 51.1%, respectively. No pollution was produced during the procedure and the technique was suitable for industrialization.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (182KB) ( )
The content of volatile oil from Mosla punctulata at different growing seasons of different areas in Fujian was studied. The results showed that the volatile oil contents varied from 0.320% to 1.020% and the main constituents were carvacrol, 1,8-cineole, thymol, β-caryophyllene, thujone and isopulegone. There existed some hereditary similarity and variations in the chemical composition of volatile oil in different producing areas. The resources of Mosla punctulata have potential for development and utilization in essence and perfume, medicine and cosmetics.

Effects of mutation of Griseofulvin producing strain
    SHEN Yu-fen
    2001, 30(02): 16-19.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (301KB) ( )
The Griseofulvin producing strain D-756 was taken as the original strain. After three-generation treatment with UV and LiCl, the mutant strain F-1012 of resistant chloride was obtained. The results of the morphological character, yield and the resistance to chloride character of the mutant strain showed that the yield of the mutant strain increased 34.5% when the concentration of chloride in the fermentation medium was raised from 1.5% to 2.0%, and when the concentration of chloride in solid medium was raised to 11%, the survival ratio of the mutant strain spore was 25.5% higher than that of the original strain spore.

Effects of calcium and boron on the growth, yield and quality of peanut
    WU Wen-xin, CHEN Jia-ju, ZHOU En-Sheng, LIN Han-zhang, LIN Qun, YOU Xue-yun
    2001, 30(02): 20-23.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (154KB) ( )
Effects of calcium, boron and combined application of Ca and B on the growth, yield and quality of peanut with soil substitutive Ca content at 0.84me/100g and available B at 0.163mg/kg respectively, were studied. The results showed that the application of Ca fertilizer increased yield and quality of peanut; the application of B fertilizer improved quality of peanut but give negative effect in yield; combined application of Ca and B also increased yield of peanut and Ca fertilizer was the main effect. The application Ca and B fertilizer not only increased Ca and B contents in peanut plant during maturity, but also significantly increased residual Ca and B in soil.

Dwarf culture and compact planting of Feizixiao litchi
    WANG Jian-chun, CHEN Cun-bi
    2001, 30(02): 24-26.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (121KB) ( )
A demonstrative experiment of dwarf culture and compact planting (1500 trees/hm2) of Feizixiao litchi was conducted from 1997 to 2000 in Zhangzhou, Fujian. The comprehensive techniques involved proper pruning, controlling winter shoots, flower and fruit retention. The results showed that the yield amounted to 10 875kg/hm2 and 11 880kg/hm2 after planting for 2 years and 3 years, respectively. Compared with the traditional culture pattern, the productive phase was earlier and the yield and quality of fruits also increased.

Effects of foliar fertilizer Lilongbao on the yield and quality of litchi fruit
    ZHANG Cheng-lin, XIE Yong-hong, ZHOU Xian-jun
    2001, 30(02): 27-30.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (148KB) ( )
Lilongbao is a foliar fertilizer specially prepared for litchi and longan during the period of fruit growth and development. A consecutive field trial from 1998 to 1999 on two litchi cultivars Feizixiao and Nuomici indicated that Lilongbao could significantly increase the litchi yield, and the individual weight of fruit and total soluble solids (TSS) of both cultivars were also increased after foliar application with Lilongbao. Based on the data in 1999, its ratio of input to output was 1:35 and 1:57 for Feizixiao and Nuomici, respectively.

The influence of different regeneration modes on the species diversity of plant community
    HUANG Zi-liang, HU Yong-yan
    2001, 30(02): 31-34.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (149KB) ( )
The influence of three regeneration modes on the species diversity of plant community was studied. The results showed that the order of the species abundance in 1200m2 sample plot with different regeneration modes was natural regeneration (159 species) >artificial promoting regeneration (130 species) >man-made forest (94 species). The diversity indices (Dsh) were 4.3004, 3.9283 and 3.5048, respectively, and the diversity evenness indices (Jsh) were 0.8484, 0.8070 and 0.7714, respectively. The main reason of the species forfeiture and the decrease of species diversity are attributed to the artificial disturbance of plantation forest.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (119KB) ( )
Ricania sublimbata Gacodi is one of the main destructive insects developed in Hubei Province and both of the nymphs and adults are sap-sacking insects in various fruit trees. Ricania sublimbata Gacodi reproduces twice a year and its eggs live through the winter inhabiting under the bark of tree branches. Applying pesticides to its nymphs at 1-3 stages can control the pest effectively.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (156KB) ( )
An experiment of introduction and cultivation of Ilex latifolia was conducted in Danzhou, Hainan in 1996. The results showed that it was suitable for cultivating Ilex latifolia in Danzhou area and high yield could be attained. Field trials showed that moderate shading could promote plant growth and irrigation was an important factor for cultivating and obtaining high yield. In order to keep sustainable high and stable yield, it was essential to shape proper crown of trees and strengthen technical management.
