    Submicroscopic Structure of Infcction Thread and Infected Cell in Root Nodules of Elaeagnus confera

    The infection threads in root nodules of Elaeagnus confera appear in the intercellular spaces at muItiple cell junctions.No root hairs are observed to be deformed in which nodules appear.The infection threads are scrotiform,containing filamentous materials and stromata;their walls thicken partly or completely and are linked together with host cell walls,Infection threads are varied morphologically.In infected cells of E.confera,cell nuclei swell and produce a few branches and form fingered nuclei.The endo-phytes and organelle in infected cells disappear with the senescene of infected cells.

    Physiological and Biochemical Changes in Deep-frozen Asparagus Spears

    The physiological and biochemical changes in deep-frozen asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) spears were investigated.The activity of polyphenol oxidase and catalase,respiratory intensity and crude fiber content were lower when asparagus spears were cleaned in water of 5~7℃,Propyl gallate and sodium pyrosulfite reduced both the enzyme activity and protected color of asparagus spears,When asparagus spears were blanched in water of 90~92℃ for 1.5~2.0 min at pH 5.3~5.5,both the enzyme activi-ties were deactivated and asparagus spears were creamy white and somewhat transparent in appearance;the bacterium quantum,coliform bacteria and colon bacillus conformed to hygienic standard. The asparagus spears were cooled immediately after being blanched to decrease cell permeability and keep the standard appearance.

    Kiwiruits (Actindia chinensis) were vacuum inmtrated in CaCl2,solutions (0.2,0.5,0.8 mol/L) to examine the effects of calcium on ethylene production, The results showed that ethylene production was evidently inhibited in any calcium treatment.The optimum concentration was 0.5 mol/L.Internal ethylene remained in low level for 5 days.The appearance of climacteric peak of any variety was delayed for 2~4 days,The effects of calcium treatments on postharvest respiration were also studied.The results showed that respiration was not apparently inhibited,but a little difference was found within varieties.

    The growing and bearing habit of 3-year old trees of four Prenus mume cultivars,i.e.‘Daheqing’ (DHQ),‘Henghe’ (HH),‘Hongmianzhudun’ (HMZD) and ‘ESu’ (ES) are recorded. The crown diameter of ‘DHQ’ is the longest,that of ‘HH’ and ‘HMZD’ are intermediate,and that of ‘ES’ is the shortest.The fruit spurrates are 73.9%,70.2%, 31.6% and 48.5%,and imperfect flower rates are 9.3%,10.2%,8.3% and 18.7%,respectively. The amount of pollen per 100 flowers are 86.1 mg,84.2 mg,73.8 mg and 64.2 mg,and the yield in the first year are 7.25 kg,1.75 kg,90 kg and 0.20 kg per tree,respectively.

    A Preliminary Report on Cultivation of Lentinus edodes in the Sawdust of Fast-growing Nitrogen-fixing Trees

    Lentinus edodes was cultured in the sawdust of three fast-growing nitro-gen-fixing trees (Leucaena leucocephala,Acacia aurculaeformis and Albizia falcataria) in bag.The result showed that the sawdust of Leucaena leucocephala accelerated the hy-phae growth of Lentinus edodes,increasing mushrooms more 108.6 g per bag and 31.0% biotic rate than that of the control,and that the sawdust of Acacia aurculaeformis increased mushrooms more 51.6 g per bag and 13.1% biotic rate than that of the control.5'-phosphodiestersae activity in different periods was examined.The result showed that the activity in the fructification period was less than in the browning period.This indicates that the activitv in the fructification period is restrained and the degree of restraint is positively correlated to the yield.

    Capsaicin was extraeted from capsicum oleoresins with 95% ethanol (E-tOH) saturated with sodium acetate (NaOAC),and then separated by HPLC and deter-mined at UV 280 nm.This method offers a new approach simplifying the treatment of samples and saving time as well as lowering operating costs.The capsaicin eontent of CaPsieum frutenscens in Fujian determined using this method was 10.38%.

    The alkaloids of Chinese medicine Qu's traditional medicine were separated after being developed with Chloroform:1,2-Dichloroethane:Methanol:Ammo-nia aqua (9:1:0.9:0.07) on silica gel G thin-layer plates The plates were colored by being sprayed with lmproved Dragendorff Reagent.And the aconitine spot was directly scanned and measured.The determination method was simple,rapid,sensitive and stable. This method makes possible for the quality control of Chinese composed medicine and the determination of aconitine content in some medicinal plants.

    The form.Quercus phillyraeoides and form.Machilus oreophila,Distylium buxifollus on the north Jiulongjiang River valley were preliminarily investigated.The results shows that both of the formations are related to the typical xerophytia in dry region,It seems that they belong to the catagory of xeromorphic vegetation,In subtropical region of East China,xerophytia occurs on drier habitat.

    Abstract ( )  
    The scrub in Quanzhou,Fujian Provinee,is mostly of secondary vegetation type that is in the form of south subtropical rain forest or south subtropical mountain laurisilvae after being destroyed;while the serub-herbosa is in the form of forest or scrub of being destroyed repeatedly. They widely distribute. Mountainous-herbosa grows on some mountains at higher sea level,extending to the summits of the mountains. Mountainous herbosa-meadow grows on some gentle slope of the summit or table land and low lying land,which are low in temperature and moisture. Analysis of specific composition,strueture and distribution of vegetation form demonstrates the community char-acteristics of subtropical scrub and scrub-herbosa,and subtropical herbosa.
