Study on H2-oxidizing System in Bacteroid from Rhizobia arachis
Xu Liangshu, Zhang Fengzhang, Long Minnan, Huang Nanzhong
    1994, 23(02): 1-7.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (380KB) ( )
An investigation was conducted to identify electron transport carriers that participated the oxidation of H2 in bacteroids of Rhizobium arachis.H2-reduced mi-nus O2-oxidized absorption difference spectra in bacteroids showed peaks at 424,500,520,550,560,585 and 595 nm,indicating the involvement of c-,b-,a and o-types of cytochromes,The absorption peaks at 520,550,560 nm were diminished a lot in the pres-ence of CN- This showed that some of c- and b-type cytochromes were CN- sensitive and therefore might play a role as terminal oxidases in H2 metabolism. H2-uptake was in-hibited by antimycin A,HONO,CN-,N3- and DBMIB,not by rotenose,Our resultsindicate that ubiquinone and some types of cytochromes are involved in the oxyhydro-gen reaction which is a complex, branched transport system.

Absorption of 32P by Leaf and Peel of Citrus unshiu during Fruit Development
    Xie Shenxi, Zhang Qiuming
    1994, 23(02): 8-13.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (365KB) ( )
Satsuma (Citres unshiu) fruits were used as materials. The 32P absorptionrule and mechanism of phosphorus were studied with isotopic trace technique duringfruit development. The results showed that phosphorus sprayed on the surface of leafand peel was taken up and utilized at different rates, and then assimilated as the cos-tituent of proteins, nucleic acid, phosphatides and acid-soluble phosphorus compounds. The absorption ability of peel decreased with increasing of ocellus, thickening of waxylayer and cell ageing,98.48% of 32P absorbed by peel remained in peel.

Physiological Fundamentals of Preventing Rice Seedlings from Rotting by ‘Yangbaoling’ (Plant Cold Resistant)
Guo Jinquan, Chen Wentao, Shen Ruichi, Lai Menghong, Xu Zhenyu
    1994, 23(02): 14-18.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (296KB) ( )
Soaking the seeds of early rice in ‘Yangbaoling’ solution effectively pre-vents rice seedlings from rotting and improves the quality of rice seedlings. This is at-tributed solely to accelerating the speed of turning green of young leaves, increasing the amount of combined water in sprouts and leaves and the soluble protein in sprouts and enhancing the activity of roots so that the treatment with ‘Yangbaoling’ can increase the low temperature stress tolerance of rice seedlings.

Relation between the Content of Leghemoglobin and Nitrogenase Activity in Stem Nodules of Sesbania rostrata
    Wang Huiying, Huang Weinan
    1994, 23(02): 26-29.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (238KB) ( )
The nitrogenase activity and the content of leghemoglobin in stem nod-ules of Sesbania rostrata were determined at different stages of nodule development,at different periods of plant development and under different illumination conditions. These resuIts show that the nitrogenase activity in stem nodules is possitively correlated with the content of leghemoglobin,Leghemoglobin plays an important role in nitrogen fixa-tion of stem nodules.

Similaritises and Differences in Leaf Structure and Ergastic Substances among Ilex kudingcha and Its Two Substitutes
    Zhang Zhenjue
    1994, 23(02): 30-34.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (342KB) ( )
The leaf structure of Ilex latifolia and I.cornuta is similar to that of I.kudingcha:bifacial leaf, palisade tissues of several layers, collaferal vascular bundle, little vascular bundles with bundle sheathes;the stomata are scattered on lower epidermis,ap-pearing in anomocytic and cyclocytic type;in leaves there are fibers and sclereids. The cells of mesophyll in these species contain tannin, starch, lipid;few cells contain crystal of calcium oxalate,The differences in structure are as follows:main vascular bundles of leaf stalk and leaf blade in I.kudingcha curve like heart-shaped ring, while in I.latifolia and I.cornuta like arc.On leaf margin,in I.cornuta there are big bundles of fibers that lay across the transection of leaf blade, while in other two species,a little fiber only.
