The Effects of Acid and Aluminum on Ginkgo Growth under the Soilless Culture
    LI Zhong-fang, YU Qiu-liang, YANG Zhi-xian, ZHU Xiu-feng, LU Fa-jia
    2012, 41(02): 1-5.  DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1009-7791.2012.02.001
    Abstract ( )   PDF (294KB) ( )
The effects of Ginkgo growth was studied under the coupling treatment of acid and aluminum (Al) by applying U207 even experimental design and soilless culture. The results showed that Ginkgo could grow normally at the concentration of Al3+ of 0.4 mmol/L and below in the range of pH 4.5~5.5, while it could be damaged under the high concentration of Al3+ within 0.8~1.2 mmol/L. On other hand, different concentrations of Al3+ caused no effect on Ginkgo growth when the pH was higher than 5.0. In a word, Ginkgo growth would be affected especially root system by the coupling treatment of high concentration of Al3+ and low pH with the roots got dark and the new roots reduced, even died or rotted, and the plantlet would stop to grow.

    2012, 41(02): 6-8.  DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1009-7791.2012.02.002
    Abstract ( )   PDF (252KB) ( )
Hybrid rice seeds V20B were used as experimental material to study the effect of exogenous phytic acid on physiological characteristics of germination of hybrid rice seed. The results showed that seed germination was significantly inhibited by 10 mmol/L exogenous phytic acid. Physiological and biochemical analysis indicated that α-amylases activity, soluble sugar content, and phytic acid were affected in different degrees by exogenous phytic acid during seed germination.

Effects of Different Cytokinins on Induction of Potato Sterile Plantlet
    YU Ru-gang,DU Xue-ling,SONG Yun-xian
    2012, 41(02): 19-22.  DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1009-7791.2012.02.005
    Abstract ( )   PDF (211KB) ( )
Shoot tips of ‘Highland No.7’ potato are selected as explants and 0.1% Mercuric Chloride and 75% alcohol are employed to disinfect; then through tissue culture, virus-free potato stems are obtained. In the process of enrichment culture, the paper tries to analyze the effect that 6-BA and KT with different consistency have on proliferation-inducing result of potato stems. The result indicates that it is the most effective to use 0.1% Mercuric Chloride to disinfect the shoot tips for 8 minutes, by which the disinfection rate can be up to 96.67%. The better promoting effect of potato stem proliferation made by cytokinin can be achieved when 6-BA > KT; adventitious bud induction and growth potential are the best when the consistency of 6-BA reaches 1.5 mg/L.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (352KB) ( )
The caryopsis of Dendrocalamus yunnanicus, which had been stored for 150 days at -20℃ and RH 15%, were used as the experimental materials, and aseptic clones were induced from them then used for propagation and in vitro conservation. The results showed that the best media for tufted-bud proliferation were MS + 6-BA 2 mg/L + NAA 0.2 mg/L, both sucrose and glucose contributed to the proliferation culture, and the best concentration was 3%. The most effective medium for rooting was MS + IBA 1 mg/L + NAA 1 mg/L, a single bud rooting was better; the best medium for buds in vitro conservation was MS + 6-BA 0.5 mg/L + NAA 0.2 mg/L. The subculture cycle of shoots was 60 days at 25±3 ℃, which could change to 160 days and 240 days at low temperature preservation 20±3 ℃ and 12 ℃, respectively. Albino seedlings or variant of leaf colors were found during tissue culture.

    2012, 41(02): 32-36.  DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1009-7791.2012.02.008
    Abstract ( )   PDF (307KB) ( )
The growth characteristics of height, root collar diameter and lateral branch of 5-year-old Bretschneidera sinensis trees were investigated. The results indicated that the averages, max, minimum of height and root collar diameter were respectively 2.0 m, 3.4 m, 0.5 m and 3.2 cm, 9.5 cm, 0.5 cm.The growth distributions of height and root collar diameter kept to the normal distribution. The growth of height and root collar diameter were evenly differentiated in treelet group. The current growth of height and root collar diameter of 1 to 5-year-old trees showed that the growth of height was lower in 3-year ago and higher at the 4 and 5-year. The growth of root collar diameter was bigger in the first year. The young trees which height were less than 2.0 m were not found lateral branch growth and their crown diameter was narrow and height growth was slowly.

    LIN Hua-zhang
    2012, 41(02): 40-42.  DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1009-7791.2012.02.010
    Abstract ( )   PDF (202KB) ( )
In this paper, the influences of different thinning intensity on the growth of Cunninghamia lanceolata plantations were investigated in Taoyuan National Forest Farm, Fujian province. The results indicated that the net growth of plant height, diameter at breast height (DBH) and individual volume was increased by 5.7%~37.1%, 12.5%~112.5% and 15.0%~129.8% respectively in C. lanceolata plantation treated by different thinning intensity of 30%, 45%, 60% compared with the control plantation after thinning of six years. Obviously, the plant height, diameter at breast height, individual volume of the plantation with thinning intensity of 60% were increased most significantly among them. However, with the increase of thinning intensity, the stand total volumes had a little decrease. On the basis of these, some suggestions were put forward to big, medium, small diameter timber of C. lanceolata, including thinning number and time, and the cultivation period.

The effects on rooting of Osmanthus fragrans var. semperfloren cutting by different cuttage matrix, branch maturity and leaves remaining were researched in this paper. The result showed that the effects on rooting of O. fragrans var. semperfloren cutting by different cuttage matrix and branch maturity had significant differences. However, the effect on rooting of O. fragrans var. semperfloren cutting with one leaf and with two leaves was unobvious. Therefore, it was the best conditions for rooting of O. fragrans var. semperfloren cutting that the branch was half-lignification, the cuttage matrix was 2/3 peat soil and 1/3 pearlstone, and the leaves remaining was one leaf or two leaves.

Latest Advances in the Classification of the Genus Radopholus
    XIE Yi-xuan,HUANG Ren-e,LIU Wen-fang
    2012, 41(02): 65-73.  DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1009-7791.2012.02.017
    Abstract ( )   PDF (420KB) ( )
Radopholus species are known to be highly polyphagous and recognized as being amongst the most damaging plant-parasitic quarantine nematode worldwide. The burrowing nematode, R. similis (Cobb, 1893) Thorne, 1949 is the most economically important representative of this genus. However, descriptions of many species within this genus are very poor yet and DNA sequences are unavailable for most of them. To better explore this genus in the future and identify R. similis accurately, an up-to-date list of the genus Radopholus and a compendium of morphometric and morphological characters of the twenty-seven didelphic species are provided.

Abscisic Acid Insensitive4 (ABI4) Mediated Lateral Root Formation
    RU Zhi-wei,LI Ling
    2012, 41(02): 74-76.  DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1009-7791.2012.02.018
    Abstract ( )   PDF (236KB) ( )
Auxin has been shown to be the key plant hormone in regulating lateral root (LR) development in plant. The auxin-efflux carrier proteins PIN effect the auxin polar distribution in roots. ABI4 inhibits LR formation due to the reduced PIN1 expression and that the resulting decrease in root auxin leads to a reduction in LR development. In this article, the current research advances on ABI4 mediated LR formation are introduced.
