    Changes of Endogenous Polyamines Contents of Leaves in Cymbidium ensifolium var.susin during Low Temperature Stress

    Changes of endogenous polyamines contents of leaves in Cymbidium ensifolium var.susin during low temperature stress were investigated at low temperature (5℃) and normal temperature.The results showed that during low temperature stress the totle polyamines (PAs),spermidine (Spd) and putrescine (Put) contents of leaves in Cymbidium ensifolium in growth period increased firstly and then decreaesed gradually,while spermine (Spm) content showed the tendency of decreasing then increasing to a higher content than before.As a result,the changes of the total endogenous polyamines contenst and different polyamines' proportion could help Cymbidium ensifolium to resist the physiological damage at low temperature,but due to the low temperature stress the lower Spd content restained the blooming of Cymbidium ensifolium.

    Studies on Wood Density and Shrinkage of Two Provenances of 17-year-old Eucalyptus dunnii

    Based on two provenances of Eucalyptus dunnii for measuring wood basic density,and checking radial and tangential dimension in green,air-dry and oven-dry states,the variation regulation of wood basic density and shrinkage ratio in different place of tree stem was studied,and the processing technology of reducing shrinkage and splitting measures (reconditioning treatment) was took to explore the restoration performance of shrinkage and splitting defects.The results indicated that:firstly,wood basic density of number 100 provenance (0.5265 g/cm3) was bigger than number 98 provenance (0.5360 g/cm3);Secondly,wood basic density showed corr change in longitudinal direction of tree stem,and sapwood density was significant higher than heartwood in traverse direction;Thirdly,wood shrinkage become smaller with the height of tree stem increasing,and sapwood shrinkage was remarkably higher than heartwood in traverse direction.Besides,tangential shrinkage ratio was 1 to 3 times more than of radial,both in longitudinal and traverse direction;Fourthly,wood splitting severity declined by reconditioning treatment,and the shrinkage recovery ratio of radial and tangential direction were 0.4% and 3.3% respectively;Eventually,wood basic density had extra significant correlation with tangential shrinkage of air-dry,and its correlation coefficient was-0.313,and linear regression models between shrinkage ratio of air-dry and oven-dry was also established.

    The morphological traits of female and male flowers of Ficus awkeotsang in different development stages,as well as the correlation between the flower development and the pollination/parasitization of fig wasp were studied by syconia markering,morphology anatomizing and controlled experiment in this paper.The result showed that the gall-flowers in the pre-female phase and female phase had no significant change in morphology,but the style and stigma of the female flowers linked to a long whip,which presented an upright tubular in the pre-female phase and the S-shaped curve in the female phase.After pollination/parasitization five days,the stigma of female and gall flowers grown yellow,and the style became drying out.After pollination/parasitization ten days,the pedicel of female and gall flowers extended,the flowers were obviously hierarchical,embryos developed rapidly and ovaries were plump,but the style and stigma were evidently wilted.The longevity of pollinator in syconia was not more than three days.This experiment would be of great significance on revealing the fig-fig wasp symbiosis mechanism.

    Observation on Morphological Structure of Arbuscular Mycorrhizas in Citrus

    The experiment was conducted to observe the morphological structure of arbuscular mycorrhizas in both Citrus unshiu ‘Guoqing No.1’/Poncirus trifoliata and C. unshiu ‘Guoqing No.4’/P. trifoliata in field.Vesicles,arbuscules,entry points,internal hyphae,external hyphae and internal chlamydospores were observed in citrus roots,which indicated that citrus belonged to arbuscular mycorrhizal plants.There were few vesicles in arbuscular mycorrhizal roots,while arbuscules were observed everywhere.Entry points had diversiform modes.Arbuscular mycorrhizal structure was mainly found in elongation zone and maturation zone.In addition,we firstly observed that root cap and meristematic zone were infected by native arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.

    Screening of Embedding Medium for Artificial Seeds of Carrot Somatic Embryos

    Artificial seeds were produced by using the somatic embryos induced from hypocotyl of SK4-316 carrot seedlings.The results showed that the sprout rate of artificial seeds with sodium alginate was lower but more stable than with PEG,and the later gave less planting percent.MS medium provides nutrients for artificial seeds sprout.The maximum germination percent of artificial seeds gained with embedding medium consisting of 4% sodium alginate solved in liquid MS,2% CaCl2·2H2O,0.1 mg/L GA3,0.2% activated charcoal and 0.1 mg/L GA3,which cultured in 1/16MS agar solid medium at 24℃.

    The leaflet were used as explants to study plant regeneration,and the results showed that the adventitious bud differentiation could be effectively induced from the explants on medium MS+0.6 mg/L NAA+8 mg/L 6-BA+1 mg/L AgNO3+3 mg/L Gln,and shoot induction rate and average number of shoots per explant was 81.03% and 5.79 respectively.The optimum medium for adventitions bud elongation was MS+2 mg/L 6-BA+4 mg/L GA3,and the average elongation length was 1.0-2.0 cm.The rooting rate of explants on 1/2 MS+0.5 mg/L NAA+3 mg/L IBA was 86.15%,and the root was stronger,longer and had more lateral roots.After hardening-off,the survival rate and maturing rate reach to 90% and 100% respectively.

    The callus induction and differentiation of Gardenia jasminoides and their multiple buds proliferation and rooting were studied using Gardenia jasminoides stems with a bud as the test material.The results showed:the best medium of callus induction and differentiation of Gardenia jasminoides stems with a bud was MS+KT 1 mg/L+NAA 0.05 mg/L;the best medium of proliferation and rooting of the multiple bud was MS+KT 2 mg/L+NAA 0.05 mg/L.

    The effect of KT,2,4-D and NAA on growth of Dioscorea bulbifera stems with a bud was studied by plant tissue culture and single factor test method.The result showed that MS+KT 2.0 mg/L+NAA 0.5 mg/L was conducive to axillary bud germination and root growth of Dioscorea bulbifera stems with a bud.

    To investigate rapid propagation of sandalwood (Santalum album),the zygotic embryos of sandalwood had been cultured in vitro on MS medium containing different plant growth regulators.The results showed that the GA3 shortened the dormancy period and enhanced the embryos germination,the mature zygotic embryo of S. album germinated after 7~10 days cultured on the MS medium with GA3 (14 μmol/L),and the seedling rate of 82.5% was achieved after 45 days' culture.

    The effects of Ca2+ on pollen germination and tube growth of Zephyranthes grandiflora were studied with different concentrations of Ca2+ by in vitro culture.The results showed that lower concentration of Ca2+ (10-3 mol/L) could promote the pollen germination obviously and tube growth quickly,but too high or too low concentrations of Ca2+ could not achieve the appropriate action to the pollen germination and tube growth.

    Observation on the Biological Characteristics of Oligostachyum scabriflorum

    Oligostachyum scabriflorum is an excellent native bamboo species in Fujian,which is dual-use in both shoots and materials.Also,its rhizome,bamboo shoots and the growth rhythm of young bamboo is similar to single-axis scattered bamboo.The vertical distribution of bamboo rhizome mostly comes within 20 cm in the soil range,and the rhizome system which keeps the length between 4 to 15 meters accounts for 78.1%.Shooting period relatively concentrates in the middle ten days and the last ten days of March,and the weights of single shoot are as follows:peak >initial >late.The process from young bamboo shoots unearthed to growth stopped in height can be divided into four stages including initial stage,rising stage,peak and late.Oligostachyum scabriflorum is shallower than bamboo in vertical distribution of bamboo rhizome,while earlier in shooting period.Moreover,there is not obvious major or minor year in bamboo shooting.In sum,Oligostachyum scabriflorum kept high value in development and utilization.According to the biological characteristics,bamboo rhizome growth and law of bamboo shooting and growing,the appropriate technical measures can be took on reforming barren wild bamboo grove in the natural distribution area to bamboo forest.And the bamboo forest would be grand just only 2-3 years later.

    Research on the Disinfection Effect of Chlorine Dioxide on Anubias barteri Explants

    The green shoots and the thickset buds tissue of Anubias barteri were took as explants to study the disinfection effect of chlorine dioxide with different concentrations on those explants in this paper.The results showed that:when the concentration of chlorine dioxide solution equaled or exceeded 500 mg/L,it could rapidly break down the green pigment of Anubias barteri's mature tissue;the explants which had been soaked by chlorine dioxide solution but hadn't been washed by sterile water took a lower contamination rate but grew slowly and were difficult to differentiate clump buds;Experimental materials soaked in ClO2 or HgCl2 solution with the thickset buds tissue as explants could get sterile explants to establish an effective rapid propagation system.

    It is found that the vegetation of Soko Islands has a strong secondary characteristic and shrublands are the main vegetation type,accompanied by secondary evergreen broad-leaved forests,beach vegetation and a small number of semi-mangroves.Shrubs and herbs both are of high diversity.259 vascular species in 207 genera of 85 families are found,including 245 native wild species.And 2 species are listed to be protected by Chinese government or government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.As an important part of the flora of Hong Kong,the flora there is dominated by tropical elements,with more than 50% families,94.69% genera and 83.40% species distributed in tropical area,and is similar to that of Neilingding Island nearby.However,each island has its own characteristic in vascular plants biodiversity,depending on its area,altitude,degree of isolation and human activities on it,and Tai A Chau and Siu A Chau have the highest biodiversity.

    Based on field investigation,the forest vegetation types of Maluanshan Country Park were investigated.According to the principle and method of vegetation classification system in China Vegetation,forest vegetation types of the park contain 5 vegetation types,13 formations and 13 associations.Among them,evergreen broad-leaved forest and artificial vegetation are dominant vegetation types.Characteristics of all associations were also described in detail in this paper.

    Analysis of Citation in Subtropical Plant Science (2005~2009)

    The quantitative characteristics of citations in Subtropical Plant Science (2005~2009) were analyzed by method of bibliometrology.The results showed that the citation rate of Subtropical Plant Science was 86.61 percent,and the average number of citations was 11.83.The category of the citations was mainly periodicals and books,which accounted for 80.66 percent and 16.67 percent,respectively.The citations were mainly written in Chinese,which accounted for 70.14 percent.The ratio of self-citation and price index of the journal were 0.99 percent and 38.13 percent,respectively.At last,these quantitative index of citation in Subtropical Plant Science were compared with those of Chinese core periodicals in agricultural science,and some advices were given to advance the editorial work of the journal.
