Effects of phosphate starvation on H+extrusion and Pi uptake of tomato seedlings
SONG Ke-min, JIAO Xin-zhi, LI Lin, YAN Ji-qiong
    2000, 29(01): 1-4.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (281KB) ( )
Changes of H+ extrusion rates and the relationship between H+ extrusion and Pi uptake of tomato seedlings during phosphate starvation were studied. The results revealed that phosphate starvation increased the H+ extrusion rates of tomato seedlings and it also indicated that vanadate, a specific inhibitor of PM H+-ATPase, strongly inhibited not only Pi uptake but also H+ extrusion of tomato seedlings, which were exhibited more strongly in Pi starved conditions than in the control. These results indicated that the changes of Pi uptake rates and H+ extrusion rates may be related, and furthermore, the PM H+-ATPase may be involved in these changes during phosphate starvation. The results also revealed that the quasi-ratio of Pi/H+ was about 1:1.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (279KB) ( )
25 species of pteridophytes from Fuzhou Fujian were examined for antimicrobial activities against Bacillus subtilis, Fschevichia coli, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Aspergillus niger. The results showed that 23 species of pteridophytes under 14 Families, 19 Genera had antimicrobial activities and the alcohol extract of each species had antimicrobial activities against at least one tested microorganism. The diameter of the inhibition zone was 8~24mm. The four species of Dryopteridaceae exhibited much higher activities than those of tested pteridophytes.

A decrease of fresh firmness, TSS, an increase of soluble polyuronides content and activities of PG and PE were observed with maturation of the fruit. Different fresh firmness, soluble polyuronides and PG activity in different parts of pineapple were also observed.

Comparison of extraction of fatty acids from Oenothera littaralis seed oil using different solvents
    Chen Bing-hua, Liu jian-qiu, Lin wen-qun
    2000, 29(01): 13-16.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (272KB) ( )
Oenothera littaralis oil was extracted from its seeds by three different solvents (ether, petroleum ether or chloroform-methanol).Fatty acids in the oil were transferred to methyl esters with BF3-MeoH by means of rapid saponification and esterification, and then subjected to analyze by capillary GC. The quantitative determination was carried out by external standard method. The results showed that the contents of linoleic acid and γ-linolenic acid in the seed oil by three solvents had no significant difference, but petroleum ether was more suitable than the other two solvents if considering the remains of solvents. Furthermore, the components of γ-linolenic acid was satisfactorily separated from the other fatty acids, especially linoleic with these esterification methods by GC.

    DONG Jian-wen, CHEN Qing-hui, LIN Hang-hua, ZHANG Jin-feng, ZHANG Yi-rong
    2000, 29(01): 17-21.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (291KB) ( )
An analysis on growth characteristics of Pinus elliotottii in pure and mixed forests was done. The results showed that the two forests had almost identical increment of tree height, DBH and volume in the first year; after that, those of Pinus elliotottii in pure forest had fallen rapidly. Compared with those in pure forest, the peak value was greater and the sustainable fast-growing period was longer in mixed forest.

Effects of PP333 on the shoot growth and status of sugar and water during wintering season of Guanxi honey pomelo trees
    CHEN Su-ying, MA Cui-lan, LIU Xing-hui
    2000, 29(01): 22-25.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (278KB) ( )
The effects of PP333 solution at different concentrations on the shoot growth, contents of starch and soluble sugar and ratio of bound water to free water in leaves of Guanxi honey pomelo trees during wintering season were studied. The results showed that the treatment of PP333 improved the content of soluble sugar, increased the bound water/free water ratio and decreased the content of starch in leaves of pomelo trees during wintering season; the treatment significantly inhabited the length of shoots and internodes and increased the diameter of shoots with the concentrations of PP333.

The optimum conditions for rapid propagation of Philodendron oxycardium
    WEI Chui-hua, CAI Xuan-mei
    2000, 29(01): 26-30.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (334KB) ( )
Studies of tissue culture and rapid propagation were conducted using the internode segments with axillory bud of P. oxycardium as explants. The results demonstrated that different combinations of growth regulators had important effects on the morphogenesis and multiplication, in which the optimal combination for the growth of axillary bud and differentiation of adventitious bud was BA 3.0mg/L+IAA 0.5mg/L. A coefficient of multiplication of 7.0 could be obtained within 4 weeks With a combination of BA 0.8mg/L+KT 0.8mg/L+IAA 0.05mg/L. The appropriate concentration of activated carbon added to culture medium to promote rooting was 1.0g/L.

    2000, 29(01): 34-37.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (243KB) ( )
Based on the investigation of D.H.B, height and fresh weight and the water contents of culm, branch and leaves, some mathematic models on the weight, D.B.H and height of culm of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami were set up. The results showed that water contents of culm, branch and leaves were 52.65%, 67.35% and 48.47%, respectively. And the culm weight table on D. oldhami was worked out accurately using single entry and duality entry models. It can be used in the culm production and distribution on D. oldhami and the assets evaluation in D. oldhami in forest.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (213KB) ( )
The optimum conditions for the development of somatic embryogenesis and plantlet regeneration of Carica papaya cv.Suizhonghong-48 was studied. The results showed that MS medium added with 2% coconut milk, ABA at 0.1 mg/L and sucrose at 40 g/L was suitable for the development and maturity of funnel-shaped embryoids of C. papaya. The healthy plantlets were regenerated from the fully mature cotyledonous embryoids on adjusted MS medium (half strength of microelements) containing sucrose at 30 g/L and 1500 lx of illumination. The regeneration rate was 78%.
