Changes of biological habit of Yuanhong litchi when transplanted northward and its corresponding cultural practice
    ZHANG Jun-qi, SHI Li-chong
    1999, 28(02): 1-7.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (477KB) ( )
When Yuanhong litchi was transplanted from Fuzhou to Cangnan (a southern county of Zhejiang province), changes of biological habit took place. Annual phenological phase of flower and fruit shortened for 7 days. There exist significant differences in ability to sprouting and bearing at different basal shoots in the next year. In order to obtain high and stable yield, a certain quantity of growth shoots were cultivated. The autumn basal shoots produced at the first 10 days of August gave high yield in the next year. The optimal differentiation of flower bud occurred at the end of October. The period of flower primordium formation in Cangnan was later than that in Fuzhou. Hence, it is emphasized that the early autumn shoots should be promoted and the late one controlled; the strong shoots should be cultivated and the flower production controlled; and the fruit retention and sound fruit are essential for litchi plantings in north Zhejiang.

Preliminary research on netcaries of four species of plants
    WU Wen-shan, ZHENG Cui-fang
    1999, 28(02): 8-14.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (573KB) ( )
The structure of floral nectaries of following species:Dianthus chinensis, Berberis virgetorum, Glechoma longituba and Astragalus sinicus were investigated with light microscope and scanning electron microscope. The nectary of D. Chinensis belongs to stamen type. The surface of epidermis is covered with thick cuticle which has small pores. The nectar is secreted by way of the small pores. The nectary of B. virgetorum belongs to perigonial type. The epidermal cells have indentation where the nectar is secreted to, and they are covered with thin cuticle. During the accumulation of the nectar, the pressure of the nectar to the cuticle is increasing, until the cuticle is broken and the nectar flows out. G. longituba and A. sinicus belong to torus type. The former secretion is brought about by epidermal cells which covered with thin cuticle. The latter secretion is secreted by way of modified stomata. Differentiation of vascular tissue in the nectaries of the four species is different and may be classified into three types.

Bamboo resources, development and utilization in Zhangzhou, Fujian province
    LIN Yi-ming
    1999, 28(02): 15-19.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (328KB) ( )
Zhangzhou, a city situated in south Fujian, is rich in bamboo resources including 8 genus, 30 species, 5 varieties and 2 cultivars because of its temperate climate and abundant rainfall. Of them, there are many economic bamboo species. The development and utilization of bamboo resources have broad prospects, and sustainable development is even more important.

The extraction and the stability of anthocyanin in litchi pericarp
    YIN Jin-hua, GAO Fei-fei, HU Gui-bing, CHEN Da-cheng
    1999, 28(02): 20-23.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (268KB) ( )
The extraction and the stability of anthocyanins in litchi pericarp were studied. HCL-ethanol was recommended as the best extracting agent for the anthocyanins. Light and temperature had little effect on the stability of anthocyanins. The amount of anthocyanins in litchi pericarp changed with the pH of the extract.

Compartmentation distribution and regulation of enzymic browning in Flammulina velutipes
    ZHUANG Rong-fu, CAI Long-xiang, Wu Jin-zhu, HU Wei-ji, HUANG Wei-nan
    1999, 28(02): 24-28.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (350KB) ( )
The compartmentation distribution of polyphenol oxidase (PPO), peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) activities in Flammulina velutipes appeared. The activity levels were the lowest at the cap, high at the top of stipe, higher at the middle of stipe, and the highest at the bottom of stipe. Flammulina velutipes were treated with thiourea, sodium sulfite, Ca2+, and at high CO2, low O2 and low temperature, the activities of PPO,POD and CAT were inhibited. High O2, H2O2 and high temperature enhanced the activities of PPO, POD and CAT. High N2 could not inhibit the activities of them.

A primary study on the half-sibling progeny test of elite tree of Cinnamomum cassia
    RUAN Shao-ning
    1999, 28(02): 29-32.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (243KB) ( )
The heritability determination of seventy half-sibling progeny of Cinnamomum cassia was made in Jinshan Forest Farm, Huaan County, Fujian province. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences in tree height, DBH within families, and the tree height and DBH of being tested families were 78.6% and 91.5% greater than those of controls respectively. The group 1 and group 2, including 11 families, belong to early rapid growing type, which is necessary for further observation.

Probe to indoor breed-technology of Azolla
LIN Yong, LU Xue-hua, GUO Wen-jie
    1999, 28(02): 33-36.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (265KB) ( )
The preliminary result suggested that illumination was one of the key factors for indoor culture of Azolla. Fluorescent lamp added with incandescent lamp was the optimal illumination; and the other factor was culture liquid, in which the application of adequacy of organic fertilizer, especially the excreta of creature can accelerate the growth and propagating rate. Gibberellin concentration at 10~20mg/L was beneficial to improve the growth of Azolla.
