    Subtropical Plant Science    2018, 47 (04): 395-403.   DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1009-7791.2018.04.017
    Abstract5773)      PDF(pc) (419KB)(1874)       Save
Protein S-palmitoylation, the most common lipid modification with the 16-carbon fatty acid palmitate, provided an important mechanism for regulating protein trafficking and function. This article summarized a family of conserved DHHC proteins with palmitoyltransferase activity that had been discovered from plants to mammals. The method of protein palmitoylation was so concluded. The paper also introduced the research methods of protein palmitoylation, the prediction methods of palmitoylation sites (CSS-Palm, NBA-Palm, TermiNator2), radioactive labeling (radiolabeling with 3H palmitate or 125I-IC16 palmitate) and non-radioactive labeling (chemical labeling and mass spectrometry) to detect palmitoylated proteins. Next, techniques to inhibit protein palmitoylation were described. These included site specific mutagenesis, and treatment of cells with inhibitors of protein palmitoylation, including 2-bromopalmitate, cerulenin, and tunicamycin. Based on the authors’ research directions, the response of protein palmitoylation in plant stress and the application prospect of plant stress resistance were summarized and prospected.

Auxin has been shown to be the key plant hormone in regulating lateral root (LR) development in plant. The auxin-efflux carrier proteins PIN effect the auxin polar distribution in roots. ABI4 inhibits LR formation due to the reduced PIN1 expression and that the resulting decrease in root auxin leads to a reduction in LR development. In this article, the current research advances on ABI4 mediated LR formation are introduced.

The structure and floral biology were studied in this paper, among which the pollen germination was observed. When all bracts split and fall, stigmas were usually receptive while the flower was still closed. Once the outer tepals were open, the inter-tepals were enclosed so closely that few insects could get inside the flower for pollination. The blooming period were from June to July when it was rainy season in Shenzhen. Few blossoms at the same time could not attract enough pollinators. All of above reason led to the low seed set.

    Abstract2162)      PDF(pc) (296KB)(703)       Save
With garden soil for basic training materials, the germination and seedlings growth of wheat variety Yannong 19 were investigated under the conditions of different content of activated carbon. The activated carbon 0.0 (CK), 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 g mixed evenly into 150 g of garden soil and were used to culture the seed of wheat variety Yannong 19. After germination, the wheat germination rate, seedling traits indicators of height, root length, fresh weight, and soluble sugar and chlorophyll content were measured. The results showed that within the experimental range, with the increase of the application rate of activated carbon, the wheat root length, soluble sugar content and chlorophyll content were rising firstly and then falling, but seedling height and germination rate continued to increase. So the appropriate activated carbon mixed in garden soil can effectively promote the growth of wheat.
