A study of the preservation in vitro of loquat germplasm Ⅱ: Effect of plant growth inhibitor WANG Jia-fu, LIU Yue-xue, LIN Shun-quan 2002, 31(04): 1-4,8.  Abstract ( )   PDF (192KB) ( )   In the study of germplasm preservation with loquat, plant growth inhibitor can retard the rate of growth of plantlet and prolong preservation time. Results showed that PP333 2~5mg/L, CCC 25mg/L, ABA 10mg/L were good for the germplasm preservation of loquat and PP333 5mg/L was the best. The high level of mannitol (>5g/L) was harmful to the plantlet in vitro, and mannitol 5g/L was optimal for the preservation of loquat germplasm. Related Articles | Metrics

Priminary study on analyses of nutrient ingredients in nuts of different chinquapin (Castanea henryi) cultivars ZHENG Cheng-le, ZHANG Xiao-hong, HUANG Ning, JIANG You 2002, 31(04): 5-8.  Abstract ( )   PDF (153KB) ( )   Nutrient ingredients in nuts of nine major cultivars of chinquapin in Fujian Province were analyzed. The results showed that the nutrient ingredients in nuts were mainly composed of starch, carbohydrates and rich in proteins, fat, fibres, vitamin C and many mineral elements such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese etc; and there were distinct differences in several items between cultivars. Growth and development characteristics of Taiwan Hami muskmelon in nutrient solution culture ZENG Zhi-jie, YE Wen-biao, LI Chuan-yong 2002, 31(04): 9-12.  Abstract ( )   PDF (151KB) ( )   The growth and development characteristics of Taiwan Hami muskmelon cultured in nutrient solution were studied. The results showed that the growing period was 97 days; the growth rate of leaves exhibited ‘S’ logistic curve; the leaf area positively correlated with the length and width of leaf; the weight of individual fruit positively correlated with the fruit diameter and negatively correlated with the number of setting fruits retaining in a vine. Tissue culture and rapid propagation of Zingiber officinale LIN Bi-ying, WEI Zheng-zhen, CHEN Yan-hua 2002, 31(04): 13-16.  Abstract ( )   PDF (122KB) ( )   Taking stem apex as explants, the tissue culture and rapid propagation of Zingiber officinale were studied. The results showed that proper sterilization was good for the survival rate of Zingiber officinale. The optimal media for induction of adventitious buds was MS+6-BA 1.5mg/L+NAA 0.1mg/L, and the plantlets increased 6.9 times every month and 76.9% of them could survive. MS+6-BA 2.0mg/L+NAA 0.1mg/L+KT 1.0mg/L was good for subculture of axillary buds. The substrate comprised of humus soil and garden soil (1:1) was good for the plantlets growth. The results showed that Chengdu Dark and 90-17-1 were high heat resistance varieties, Zaofeng Red was medium, Pingdong Long had low heat resistance, Nine Leaf and Changza 6were heat sensitive. The phenophase expressions of shoot growth, floral and fruiting in 20 medium mature longan germplasm were evaluated, and differences of early growth and bearing characters of different germplasms were also described. Effects of different bags on fruit quality of ‘Jiefangzhong’ loquat LIU Guo-qiang, CHEN Qing-xi 2002, 31(04): 26-28.  Abstract ( )   PDF (118KB) ( )   The effects of different paper bags on fruit quality of ‘Jiefangzhong’ loquat were studied. When bagged in high quality bags (Shengda and Kaixiang K2), the appearance of fruits were better than the control (newspaper bag); fruit rust index and rate of sunscald and splitting fruit decreased; the percentage of first class fruit increased by 20%~30%; the contents of soluble solids and reducing sugar were greater than those of the control. Low quality bags, such as Kaixiang K1 and newspaper bag, are easy to be damaged and not good for fruit bagging. Related Articles | Metrics

Effects of calx and borax on growth and bearing of plum CHEN Qing-xi, WU Shao-hua, ZHENG Cheng-le, LIAO Jing-si, CHEN Yan-juan, CHEN Qi-hui, HUANG Dan-min 2002, 31(04): 29-32.  Abstract ( )   PDF (163KB) ( )   A field experiment was conducted in 2000 to examine the effects of different application rates on growth and bearing of plum. Four treatments were used, including N, P, K fertilizers (N:P2O5:K2O=1:0.4:0.6) 1.38kg/plant/y, N, P, K fertilizers combined with organic fertilizer, with calx and borax, and the control (N:P2O5:K2O=1:1.9:1.7, 1.83kg/plant/y). The results showed that N, P, K fertilizers combined with calx and borax increased the percentage of fertile fruit and yield by 9.9% and 14.2%, respectively, and promoted the growth of new shoots. Introduction experiment of Japanese white pulp loquat'Shiromogi'in Putian,Fujian Province WU Jin-cheng, LIN Shun-quan, ZHENG Min, LIU Guo-qiang, CHEN Jian-qin, CHEN Tie-shan 2002, 31(04): 33-36.  Abstract ( )   PDF (149KB) ( )   The adaptability of Japanese white pulp loquat ‘Shiromogi’ were studied in Putian, Fujian Province. Results showed that ‘Shiromogi’ had good adaptability, the average fruit weight was 50.1g/fruit, the content of soluble solids and titrable acids were 12.2%~14.5% and 0.26%, respectively. The Fruit characters of ‘Shiromogi’, including individual fruit weight, fruit quality, appearance and storage property, were better than those of other white pulp loquats produced in China. Comparison experiment in varieties of spring Chinese cabbage CHEN Wen-hui, FANG Shu-gui, ZENG Xiao-ling 2002, 31(04): 37-39,45.  Abstract ( )   PDF (146KB) ( )   The comparative experiments of Chinese cabbage varieties were conducted in the early spring and late winter from 2001 to 2002. The results showed that Chundaqiang, Qiangshi, Chunxiao from Korea and Jianchun, Liangqing from Japan had good quality with high yield, disease resistance, low temperature resistance, good coccus form and proper growing season, and were selected as popularized varieties. Yaoshanchun introduced from Korea could be extended as a peculiar vegetable for its orange heartleaves in Fujian Province. Related Articles | Metrics
