To make reasonable and scientific application of Ixora species in landscape configuration, a comprehensive assessment system in landscape application was established by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Sixteen indicators selected according ornamental value, ecological adaptation, and configuration applications, including flower color, inflorescence size, number of flowers, corolla lobes shape, florescence, proportion of single inflorescence area and leaf area, leaf color, plant height, plant type, cold resistance, illumination adaptability, waterlogging tolerance, drought tolerance, group planting, isolated planting and potted planting. Hierarchy indices were weighted and calculated by assessment matrix. The hierarchy criteria layer weights ranged from 0.2017 to 0.4547 and the index layer weights ranged from 0.0159 to 0.1308. Scoring criteria of the evaluation system was made by using three scales to assign relative importance of the various indicators. In order to validate the feasibility of the assessment model, 9 species of Ixora plants were sampled to be assessed. The evaluation results showed that I. coccinea var. bandhuca, I. coccinea, and I. chinensis had a wide landscaping application range because they got the highest score. The assessment model was feasible that could provide a reference for Ixora plants breeding and landscape applications.
